ANDORRA

• According to the "Final Report on Question 9/1: Impact of the introduction and utilization of new technologies on the regulatory environment," published in 2002 by ITU-D Study Group 1, Andorra is one of the few countries in the world with no telecommunications law. However, a draft law seems to have been under preparation at the time that report was written.
• Servei de Telecomunicacions d'Andorra (STA) is a state-owned corporation created in 1975 with "full responsibility" for telecommunications services in Andorra, including telephony, radiotelephony, data transmission and "other complementary services within the State territory."---"STA sceglie Nortel per fornire una rete wireless a banda larga 3G," (STA selects Nortel to build a 3G wireless broadband network), 18 January 2005.
• "The OIE and the STA propose to the Comuns the installation of Wi-Fi in squares and libraries": "The Office for Business Innovation (OIE) of the Government of Andorra and the [STA] offer to each Comú (municipality) the installation of a wireless access point to Internet - WiFi - in one of its public squares at no cost. In a second phase of the project, the Government libraries and the communal ones will also have wireless access to Internet. At present, free WiFi coverage is available at the following squares: Coprinceps (Escaldes-Engordany), Germandat (Sant Julià de Lòria) and Plaça del Poble..."
