Mordheim Widows

Comments

There rules were made in an attempt to create a Mordheim group, which will not mind heavy loses in battle. The members are extremly cheap even for their sub-par abilities. The group has believable and - I hope - interesting backgroud and agenda. It should be quite flexible, albeit more heavy on the close combat side. Also, please note some very strong special skills. As for models, Sisters of Sigmar miniarures may be used.

Background

Mordheim was rich, flourishing city, with lots of trade and craft going on. Then the comet stroke. Then there was light. Then there was dark. And the dark prevailed. Madness, hopelesness and twisted mutations stroken the proud citizens of Mordheim. They became scavengers, mindless zombies, mercenaries for bands from all known world. The bitternes and urge of the situation forged a group which swored to cleanse the taint and save the city. There might be madness deep in their empty eyes, flames of hatred behind their stiff figures, but they are the best what is left of Mordheim folk - The Mordheim Widows.

Their husbands gave up to the tainted city, their homes burned in supernatural flames, their children voices were silenced by the ruins. They have every right to hate anyone who comes to the city to search for the nemesis of their lives - the shards of the wyrdstone. They svore to find every last shard, crush it, dissolve in acid or bury deep in ground so no one will find it. Their actions may save the city or they may pollute it forever. No one knows and no one cares. Something must be done.

The Mordheim Widows grow stronger day by day. They lack experience. They lack training. They lack weapons. They have lost everything dear to them. But their determination is deep and strong. They will prevail whatever the cost.

Special rules

Mordheim Widows form loosely organized groups and therefore do not have a leader.

Mordheim Widows take their recruits from quite large number of surviving citizens and therefore have maximum 20 members limit. There is also minimum 1 hero and 5 members in total limit to provide the basic going of the group.

Mordheim Widows have made their goal to cleanse the city from the wyrdstone and so must discard one wyrdstone shard prior to selling shards.

May hire any hired sword available non-exclusively to any human band.

Skills (special)

Combat training
The widow may use spear, sword, short bow, medium bow, light armour, shield and helmet.

Charming
Once per battle the widow may re-roll any to hit or to wound dice roll involving her (this includes rolls done by other parties).

Racial hatred
The widow hates all models in all non-human groups; in addition, she starts battles with such groups in frenzy.

Dagger expert
The widow gains +1 attack and +1 to hit when fighting with daggers only.

Mordheim citizen
The widow may roll two dices instead of one when rolling at the exploration chart and choose one as the result.

Heroines

1 - 6 Black Widows

Black Widows are the most respected and gifted members in the group. They are otherwise very different folk, with very different talents and background, ranging from respected merchant widows to skilled street urchins.

Choose any two skill groups from common skills for a Black Widow. She also has approach to the special skills.

Black Widows gain 2 advancements when you recruit them (after choosing skill groups); they start with 4 experience points.

Henchwomen

Previously street urchins or emancipated dauthers, these young girls are quite home in the heat of battle.

Only a few Mordheim Widows groups can afford to employ old wise woman to lead others through the city as there is so few senior citizens left. The military might of so called "Old hags" is close to nil but their wisdom and knowledge of the city is unrivaled.

The backbone of the Mordheim Widows groups consists of the hopeless various former wives. Although they do their best to help the common cause, they lack the training, talents, and - frankly - the courage, of their sisters in arms.
